Gravity Rush 2’s Release Date Has Been Pushed Back to January 2017

Gravity Rush 2

Keiichiro Toyama, series director of Japan Studio, has announced that their upcoming sequel Gravity Rush 2 has been delayed until January 20, 2017.

As the game is the conclusion to protagonist Kat’s journey, the studio wants to ensure that players “have enough time to dive deep into her story.”

Further expanding on this point, Toyama says, “After four years of development making a title we are very proud of, we want to release it at the very best time.”

In order to make the delay more palatable, Japan Studio is offering the premium DLC planned for the title for free, which will allow players to further explore and enjoy the world of the game.

Promising more information in the months to come, the studio thanks fans for their patience and understanding.

With the gaming year end-loaded with AAA titles, as per usual, this move seems like a smart one, allowing the title more time for polish and a chance to be released without such heated competition.

Delays are generally a good thing all around, within reason, as it is better to wait longer for a finished game than get a broken one early. Though this is yet another exclusive for Sony pushed into 2017, hopefully it only means that their presence next year will be all the stronger.
