Eidos Montreal took to their own blog this morning to announce that a new title in the Deus Ex series is currently in development for next-generation consoles and the PC platform. Titled Deus Ex: Universe, the game will feature an “ongoing, expanding and connected game world”, a trend that many developers seem to be following with the next-generation platforms.
The team plans to “deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before.” Along with the core game, Eidos will also be working on other pieces of Deus Ex content exclusive to mobile platforms, books, graphic novels and so on.
The team behind the development of Deus Ex: Human Revolution has already started production on the project. Alongside the announcement of Deus Ex: Universe, the Director’s Cut of Human Revolution for the Wii U will be released on October 22nd.
Finally, the featured image of this article is concept art from Deus Ex: Universe. The concept art “shows trans-humanism segregation, which is a backdrop to our vision for the next Deus Ex. It represents a “ghetto-city’ voluntarily built in order to separate the classes. The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex.”
