I’ve been excited for Robinson: The Journey ever since the game was announced. I haven’t seen a whole lot of VR games just yet that make me say, “wow I need to go pre-order a PSVR headset right now”, but Robinson: The Journey’s concept alone was enough to really pique my interest in what VR can offer.
Following some hands-on previews from other outlets this past week, Crytek has released the first official gameplay video for Robinson: The Journey, and I think it looks quite good. The game isn’t an on-rails experience and offers players complete freedom of movement through its world, which is one of the main reasons for why I’m so interested in the game. Plus, you know, there’s dinosaurs.
According to a recent hands-on preview from UploadVR, Robinson: The Journey will last around three to five hours. Sony has previously noted that VR experiences are best served as “short” and “intense” experiences, and Robinson: The Journey seems to be following that notion.
You can take a look at some new screenshots and the after-mentioned gameplay video for Robinson: The Journey at the bottom of this post. Let us know what you think of the game in the comments section and if you’re interested in picking up a PSVR headset when it launches this October.
Robinson is currently a PSVR exclusive and is expected to launch around the time the headset launches.
