According to supposed industry insider Tidux, Uncharted 4 may be a little different than previous entries in the series.

Tidux, in his latest round of Tweets says that Uncharted 4 will be a “darker” entry in the series with a heavy focus on story, which the series has more or less been known for since the start, but maybe that means there will be even more emphasis on the story this time around.

He goes on to say that the game will be filled with the usual action heavy moments as well, which most would expect from the game so not real insider worthy information there, but as we noted above, Uncharted seems to be continuing to do what has made the series so successful.

In a more ominous Tweet, Tidux describes the game as “simply bananas”, and again, while it doesn’t really say much about the game in general, other rumors have been talking about the graphical fidelity of the game being a big step up on the next-gen hardware that the PS4 offers. Uncharted 4 will be at E3, so we’ll just have to wait and see what Naughty Dog has in store for us there.

As usual, most statements from insiders are rather vague and ominous so take this information as nothing more than a rumor. However, between Tidux, Shinobi602 and Superannuation, these are the three insiders that have proven more or less trustworthy as of late.

What are your thoughts on Uncharted 4 possibly taking on a darker tone than the previous entries in the series. Do you think Naughty Dog can apply what they learned during the development of The Last of Us to the Uncharted franchise? Let us know what you think in the comments section just below.

I think you could tell it’s darker just from going by the reveal teaser.

Not really any new info here, for me anyway.

with Druckmann at the helm this was expected but I like Uncharted because it is a cliche lighthearted adventure kind of game and not for its deaths, realism or gritty aspects. I don’t wan it to become like the Tomb Raider reboot, which I didn’t like one bit, nor want to see any main characters die. Like seriously, if they kill Sully or Elena or Chloe I’m not buying any more Uncharted games after this one. I don’t want games to make me feel depressed like The Last of Us did.

Druckman on the helm this was predicted yet I love Uncharted due to the fact it is a cliche easy going venture kind of game instead of for the demise, realistic look or gritty factors.

I’m not sure I like the idea of it being darker, I sure hope that there is a nice contrast and brightness control to compensate. Maybe a flashlight mod?

Joke comment or serious lol? Talking about the theme of the story here ;p

I was joking, I couldn’t resist after I saw the headline lol. Good article :)

It’s Nathan Drake, so I expect the typical funny comments and remarks. But a darker themed plot would give it a nice twist and keep it fresh for the new installment.

So much teasing and no showing. The suspense is killing me! I’m almost worried it will instantly be disliked if it’s TOO different but, at the same time, 4 games in, on an eighth generation gaming machine, you’re going to want something that pushes the boundaries, rather than being just more of the same…but with prettier graphics.

The main reason i liked uncharted was how light hearted it was, drake didnt take anything seriously, it was just pleaseant to play, i didnt like the last of us or tomb raider they try to take themselfs too seriously.

So now uncharted is darker, the game director, lead story writer and lead character designer have left the studio (story, characters and good game design, basicly what makes uncharted great) and naughty dog had a nightmare converting the last of us from cell architecture to x86, which means sinc they use the new engine, the new uncharted wont be utilizing the hardware properly.

Damn i worry more and more about the next uncharted, not that we need another one, unlike some other devs, naughty dog provided 3 fine games and thats all i could ask for them. Now why the rest ruin the series after the second game? I guess thats a mystery.
