It’s been a great start to the 2014 year for us here at OnlySP. Not only are we on track to have the best month on record for the site statistically, but we also have some very exciting news to announce to you later in this post. However, first we’ll give you a small glimpse of what’s to come in the new year.
As you will have noticed, we’ve really started to focus on bringing you exclusive content that can only be found on OnlySP as often as we are able. The first week of the year saw us delivering an interview with Tomasz Gop for Lords of the Fallen and revealing all new details within. The following week it was one for Transistor and this past week saw us dropping some juicy new information about The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, the debut effort from The Astronauts. On the plate next is an interview for one of the biggest games of 2014, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, so keep your eyes peeled for that one.
That’s just the beginning of what we have planned. Our goal is to bring you a new exclusive interview every single week of the year, with our schedule currently filled through February. We’re also going to be focusing a bit more on indie titles and getting word out about some of the more interesting ones with smaller interviews alongside the major ones. By doing this, we hope that we can provide you with the kind of content that you can’t find anywhere else and also to make OnlySP a go-to destination for gaming news.
Over the holiday break I spent a lot of time fixing up the site, organising more giveaways and coming up with ideas to build a bigger and better community. So far, this has worked quite well, as we have seen a big jump in our statistics and site participation. We appreciate every single person that reads and comments, and our planned giveaways are our way of saying thank you. The improved statistics have opened a door for us and that is the big announcement that I’ve been working up to sharing with you.
As the Site Owner of OnlySP, I am proud to announce that we have become an official partner of Crave Online, the #1 Male-Lifestyle Publisher in the world. For us, this is huge as Crave would normally only accept sites with a much bigger audience, but were impressed by the focus and nature of OnlySP. Other sites in their network include such widely respected sources as Destructoid, Game Revolution and PlayStation LifeStyle, and we are honored to be a part of their network.
For that, we have only you, the readers to thank. We wouldn’t be where we are now without you and we hope that as a site, have treated our fan base well. From our writing to our growing YouTube channel and our social media channels, we strive to bring you the highest quality content that we can offer. As the site owner, I try to make OnlySP a place any and all gamers can come to discuss games in a civil matter, read informative and quality content and make your time on the site an enjoyable experience.
So, what does Crave Online’s partnership mean for OnlySP? Well, it means that we’re part of a very substantial network and will be providing better advertisements that are less “spammy” looking, I guess you could say. We will be serving premium ads from actual companies rather than browser based games and so on. Other than that, not much else will change for us aside from a minor internal restructure. For the next month or so you won’t see much change in terms of our advertisements, considering you have ad-block off. The ads that come in the future will still be out of the way like they always have been and shouldn’t affect the user experience.
Moving on, Lachlan Williams is, quite honestly, the best Editor-in-Chief that I could ask for. He works incredibly hard for the site to make sure things stay in check. As a writer, he’s helped me to improve my writing skills considerably, as well as given me counsel on some of the hard to make choices the site has had to make, and has been with me every step of the way. If I could get a plane ticket to Australia and share a drink with him I’d do it in a heartbeat. Everyone on the team thanks you for your dedication and hard work Lachlan.
In conclusion, I just want to thank everyone and anyone who has contributed to the site over the past two years, either by writing for it, producing media content, commenting, looking at a page or even just sharing a link. We wouldn’t have come this far without you.
To many years ahead,
