Wolfenstein: The New Order – “Lots of Ideas” for a Sequel, Depends on Financial Success of New Order
One last news story for Wolfenstein: The New Order for today.
As you’d probably imagine, the developers of Wolfenstein: The New Order already have plans for a sequel, but as with any game, it all depends on the financial success of The New Order. Jens Matthies, Creative Director at MachineGames responded to a question asked by a Reddit user about the possibility of a sequel saying, “We loved getting to work on Wolf. It was daunting for sure, because it’s a game that blew our minds when we grew up, and we’ve been idolizing id Software since before we started making games. We’ve worked extremely hard to make sure the id guys wouldn’t feel like their trust in us was misplaced. We have lots of ideas for a sequel and we’d love to do one. It hinges on the financial success of this one, of course. There are many game modes you can unlock :)”
As for the future of MachineGames, Matthies says the development studio is interested in making a new multiplayer game similar to Enemy Territory. The studio only works on one game at any given time, however, so they can produce the “best possible results. You can read the full quote below.
I think it would be a lot of fun to make an Enemy Territory style multiplayer game. But MachineGames will never make both at the same time. We find that the best possible results come from having the whole team focused on a singular experience for the duration of the project.
Finally, a quick nod to Fallout 4. It was bound to happen, but a Reddit user asked about it and of course, Matthies simply avoided the question, but in a somewhat comical way. Checkout the thread below.
REDDIT USER: So… about Fallout 4…
Do you know anything about it? If so please tell?
MATTHIES: Excellent question! Keep the excellent questions coming
