Wolfenstein: The New Order Will Have an Alternate Timeline, Recommended to Play the Game Twice

The Creative Director for Wolfenstein: The New Order is currently doing an AMA on Reddit, revealing some new info about the game.

According to Jens Matthies, the Creative Director on Wolfenstein: The New Order, players will have a big reason to go back and replay through the game after your first playthrough. According to Matthies, the game will have you make a big choice early on in the game that will make some very notable differences in the story. Matthies explains, “This game is exclusive single player. But we’ve built in lots of replay value. Most notably is that the player makes a choice early on the outcome of which opens up an alternate time line which changes the vibe of the story. It’s recommended to do a second play through and see what would have happened if you chose differently.”

Matthies continued to provide some extra detail on how this alternate timeline would affect your playthrough by saying, “Well, I don’t want to give any spoilers, but it changes the vibe of the story to a degree and alters the gameplay somewhat. We think of it as an alternate ending, but instead of it just affecting the final cinematic, it affects the tone of the whole game a little bit.”

In the AMA he also reiterated the game’s main campaign will take about 20 hours to complete, which we reported on a few months ago.

We’ll be sure to provide more details from the AMA as they become available so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to get all the latest updates.

Only 20 hours gameplay ? In the real world, that boils down to about 8 or 9…

As with most games, if not all, it will depend on play style. I’d probably take about that time (plus a few extra hours) to finish the game, heh. :)

yeah i d like to see some proof this game will last 20 hours, something tells me that that choice is also taken in consideration in order to reach 20 hours.
