Metro: Last Light Developers Suspend Their Unannounced Space IP

A few months ago, we brought you some new evidence that 4A Games – developers of Metro: Last Light – was reportedly working on a new IP set in space. Unfortunately, that game may never see the light of day.

On the same Linkedin profile that we found the original information on, the project description now states that the game has been suspended or, for the lack of a better word, cancelled. The new information can be found in the image below. For the original image, click here.

The only details we have on that unannounced IP were from a Russian interview back in 2014. Here’s the snippet:

The third project is even more secret . This is a fantastic shooter about space with a very unusual design , structure and idea. Alien landscapes are fascinating – we do this have never seen . Alas , more information about the new game we can not provide .

The profile notes that a new entry in the Metro series is still in development at 4A Games, so it shouldn’t be too long before we hear more about that. According to that same Russian interview, the game is set in the Metro universe but is “radically different from the previous parts of the series.”

Hopefully we’ll get an official announcement about the next Metro soon. If the new IP from 4A Games has been cancelled though, that’s rather disappointing. 4A really knows how to make an immersive world, and I would have personally loved to have seen what they could do with outer space.
