The Blue Bomber is alive and well after a couple of big announcements in today’s Mega-Man 30th anniversary Twitch live stream.
Mega Man 11 will warp on to PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One in late 2018 with a new visual style and classic arcade style gameplay. Footage released by Capcom highlights a 2.5-dimensional art style (think New Super Mario Bros. on Nintendo DS) along with a couple of new weapon types and bosses. Mega Man fans have been hoping for another classic-styled entry to the platformer series since the release of Mega Man 10 seven years ago.
Those worried the vision and feel of the original game could be lost should fear not, as the upcoming entry will be headed by some series veterans. Producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya and director Koji Oda are both working on the project. Tsuchiya, Oda, and Capcom have all confirmed that Mega Man 11, while a sequel to the previous 10 classic games, will serve somewhat as a rebirth of the series.
Unfortunately, those excited about the next Mega Man game will have to wait until the summer of 2018 to get any more substantial information regarding the upcoming title.
Before then, both the Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will be making their way to Nintendo Switch spring 2018, just in time for Nintendo owners to become acquainted with the series before the release of the new game.
Furthermore, the entirety of the Mega Man X collection of games will be available in one complete package for PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in the summer of 2018 as well.
