OnlySP last reported on the stealth game Tangiers back in January of this year. We briefly spoke with lead developer Alex Harvey, who explained the game’s woes but ensured us that everything was now on track and that a beta was on the way. It has now been almost six months since that conversation and not a single update about the game has been provided to the game’s backers.
To give a brief history of the game, Tangiers was originally Kickstarted way back in 2013 with a planned release of August 2014. It promised an open-world stealth sandbox game with a non-linear story set in a dark avant-garde world.
Since then very few updates have been provided to backers of the games with the last official update being provided in October of last year. Another brief comment was made by Harvey the following November saying a solution had been found for the game’s financial difficulties. He promised an update would follow that weekend, that update never came.
Since our conversation with Harvey in January, the project has not even been mentioned in passing by the developer. The game’s website has gone offline, Harvey’s Twitter hasn’t made any posts about the game, the official Tangiers‘ Twitter has been inactive since November, and no updates have been released on the Kickstarter page.
It’s a sad situation for those who backed the game but at this point, we can only assume that the project is dead. If you were one of the backers of Tangiers we would suggest starting the process of requesting your refunds.
