According to the official Kickstarter page of Areal, the project has been suspended. According to Kotaku, a representative from Kickstarter would not go into details about the suspension and referred them to the their FAQ.

The story of West Games and Areal has been a shaky one, with conflicting reports from different studios about its legitimacy.

The suspension follows only after two days of passing its $50,000 goal by reaching $64,928 thanks to large donation claiming to be from Russian President Vladimir Putin, though this is likely false. After so many scandals following the game I’m not surprised that Kickstarter made the decision to suspend the project. Its a shame considering that the idea could have been great.
