Areal, which we revealed to you yesterday, is the upcoming definitive spiritual successor to the STALKER series and is currently in the process of its Kickstarter campaign which began yesterday.
In just one day, the Kickstarter for Areal has already achieved half of its $50,000 goal.
In addition, the developers have just released an update for their Kickstarter providing a few new details on their plans for the game. The most important detail for us, however, is the fact that West Games is putting the, “single player and story [as] the number one priority”. Multiplayer will only be added if the game surpasses $500,000 in funding.
The developers were careful to reassure that, if they do add multiplayer, they “will make sure that it doesn’t affect the quality of single player,” which is always something we like to hear when a developer decides to add multiplayer to a single player focused game.
Graphically, the game will not cut corners due to it releasing on multiple platforms. West Games had this to say to the PC players who were worried about the game being lowered in quality due to releasing on consoles:
PC aficionados are also worried that our game will be watered down to look the same as on consoles. This will never be the case, and graphical fidelity will not be sacrificed in any way because of consoles.
Nothing in-game has been shown yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as something is made available. We also have the very first interview with West Games in the works, so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to get the notification when that interview drops hopefully within the week.
