Bohemia Interactive has revealed ‘Contact’, a new expansion for Arma 3 that introduces aliens to the game.

In the expansion, players will “engage in field science, electronic warfare, and combat reconnaissance” in a classic Arma-like manner to discover more about the alien threat. While the expansion will, of course, involve shooting and combat, it will also task the player to study the aliens using different technologies.

The developer was motivated to include more unique gameplay methods after the positive response to the previous Arma 3 DLC, ‘Laws of War’. “I am personally very grateful for the opportunity to explore this theme,” said project lead Joris-Jan van ‘t Land.

Bohemia is describing ‘Contact’ as a “spin-off expansion” as it is based in an alternate future to the main series.

Check out the full announcement trailer below.

‘Contact’ will be released on July 25, 2019, and will require the Arma 3 base game to play.

Noire, Red Dead Redemption (and its sequel), Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Last of Us, and the Uncharted series.
