Ubisoft has formally announced Assassin’s Creed: Unity following the recent leaks of the game over the past week.
In a press release sent out to this morning, Ubisoft has confirmed that the next game in the Assassin’s Creed series is titled “Unity”. According to Ubisoft, the game will only be coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC, so it’s seeming more likely that they’re working on two separate titles, one for next-gen and one for previous gen. If so, the other Assassin’s Creed title may have the subtitle of “Comet”, or that could just be its codename.
Unity will indeed be set in Paris, but it remains to be seen if we’ll be traveling to to other locals as well as taking to the sea. Assassin’s Creed: Unity is planned for holiday 2014 according to Ubisoft.
Ubisoft had this to say in the press release sent out this morning:
“We have been working on the new Assassin’s Creed for more than three years and although we weren’t quite ready to show you our full vision for a next-gen only AC, but it seems Abstergo are trying to force our hand!
“So here’s a true first look at in-game footage from Assassin’s Creed Unity. Stay tuned – we’ll have many more exciting details for you in the months ahead!”
By golly does that next-gen engine look fantastic. Hopefully we some advancements in gameplay as well with the first next-gen only Assassin’s Creed. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with all the latest on Assassin’s Creed: Unity.
