Batman: The Enemy Within

Last month, Telltale Games announced a plethora of new projects, including the highly anticipated sequel to Batman: The Telltale Series, with new details about the title recently emerging online.

Since then, new story information has been unveiled regarding the second season, which is titled Batman: The Enemy Within. A new summer update video was uploaded to social media, alongside the official trailer giving details of what to expect in the second instalment.

Those who played the first game will be delighted to see returning characters such as Batman (Bruce Wayne), Alfred, Commissioner Gordon, and the Joker (John Doe). One of the main focal points this season will be Bruce Wayne’s relationship with John Doe. Previously, John had been Bruce’s ally during their incarceration in Arkham Asylum. John even believes the two are friends at the beginning of season two. Telltale has stated that the choices the player makes throughout the story will affect how John perceives Batman and ultimately decide the direction in which the character goes.

New to the series is primary antagonist, the Riddler (Edward Nigma). According to the trailer, Nigma had previously gone missing but has now mysteriously returned to Gotham to wreak havoc. Batman must solve convoluted and sadistic puzzles as he attempts to save Gotham’s citizens whilst under the watchful and taunting eyes of the Riddler.

Also introduced is Amanda Waller, an important government figure and eventual creator of the Suicide Squad. Initial footage indicates that Waller and Commissioner Gordon will compete for control over Gotham’s security enforcement, forcing Batman to choose between the two. Waller’s inclusion in the franchise opens up multiple doors for the future of Batman: The Telltale Series and could hint at potential villains for later additions.

The first episode of Batman: The Enemy Within will premiere on August 8, 2017 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One with no official dates for later entries.

Troy Baker has spoken about his return to the role of Joel in Naughty Dog’s upcoming title The Last of Us Part II.

During an exclusive interview with OnlySP at Supanova Comic Con & Gaming, Baker was asked how he felt to return to the role alongside Ashley Johnson, who plays Ellie in the sequel to the acclaimed 2013 title.

“The first day we were on set was when we shot [the PSX reveal] trailer,” Baker revealed. “We go through rehearsals and stuff, and we walk through it, and things get real serious all of a sudden, when we heard both of our voices. When you put everything together, that’s when Ashley goes away and Troy goes away, and you’re left with Ellie and Joel.”

Baker noted that the first time creative director Neil Druckmann spoke to him about the potential of a sequel was during the British Academy Video Game Awards in March 2014.

Druckmann recently revealed that Baker and Johnson had completed their main work on the game, describing it as “the most ambitious cinematic shoot we’ve ever done.” Before that, he stated that the final scene of The Last of Us Part II has been shot, with Laura Bailey recently completing her performance capture for the title. Druckmann also revealed that the rapper Logic and actor Travis Willingham will also be appearing in the game.

Earlier this month, a screen of the game’s weapon upgrade system was leaked in a promotional video, with some noting that weapon variation may be present in the game’s revision of combat.
