Battle Chasers: Nightwar, Airship Syndicate’s JRPG has successfully reached its funding goal on Kickstarter, earning $623,484 at the time of writing, far exceeding the $500,000 target.
According to the Kickstarter page, “Battle Chasers: Nightwar is an RPG inspired by the classic console greats, featuring deep dungeon diving, turn-based combat presented in a classic JRPG format, and tons of secrets, story and randomly-generated replay goodness.”
Originally slated for Windows PC and Mac, the overachievement has resulted in Airship Syndicate announcing that the game will also appear on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. With a staggering 23 days remaining of the campaign, there’s no telling just how much money the company will raise, but it goes without saying that the idea has been very popular. Further stretch goals are within reach, with a tavern mini game just a few hundred dollars away and a new playable character at $700,000.
The game revives the Battle Chasers comic book series, which ended years ago on a cliffhanger and was very popular, so a return for the series has predictably excited fans. As well as releasing the game, Airship will also revive the comics, which will be both written and drawn by original series creator Joe Madureira. There is no confirmed release date for the game or the comics as of yet.
