Battlefield Hardline Delayed to 2015

According to a recent post from the Battlefield Facebook page, DICE’s VP Karl Magnus Troedsson announced that they will be pushing back the release date of Battlefield Hardline to early 2015. Initially, the game was set to release in October of 2014, but based on the amount of feedback they have gotten from the community after the beta, they felt that it would be best to spend more time working on innovations and core gameplay.

“This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.

We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans.” (Karl Magnus)

This is definitely big news for Battlefield fans and a fantastic decision on DICE’s part. Perhaps DICE is finally learning from their past mistakes, and now understanding how important it is to ensure the game is finished before release. Either way, I do not believe I am the only one who is actually surprised that EA (Electronic Arts) approved of this request, but I will definitely not complain about it.

  1. I think it’s the Frostbite 3 Engine causing all these issues. Both Dragon Age and Battlefield use it. It must not be easy to work with and not optimized, but this is only my opinion.

    1. Their main reasoning is the fact it didn’t feel like a Cops and Robbers game, which I heavily agree with. It felt like police fighting terrorists during the beta. So if they work on that and make it a unique game I’m all for it.
