Bethesda on Dishonored: “We Clearly Have A New Franchise”

4

In a recent interview with Destructoid, Bethesda’s PR Chief Pete Hines stated that Dishonored, the stealth-action title released last month, is performing above the company’s expectations.  Though exact figures were not revealed he did give some insight into the game’s sales and the future of the franchise:

“I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s a new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter.  We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas.

“So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise.”

That news will come as music to the ears of the many gamers who enjoyed the unique experience of playing Dishonored.  Our own Michael Urban reviewed it and gave it a 9 out of 10.  If waiting for a second installment in the franchise is too much for you, tide yourself over with the Dunwall City Trials, releasing on Dec. 11th, and more story-driven content that will be released next year.  In the meantime, stay tuned to OnlySP for more news and make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for up-to-the-minute information.

I'm a new dad, gaming machine, and beard aficionado. With a little one in the house, I've come to embrace the single-player experience, as it is much less likely to send me into a profanity-laced, controller-throwing tantrum. Writing and video games are two of my greatest passions, so this is a natural fit for me. As long as it doesn't require me to perform coordinated dance moves in front of my Kinect, i'm willing to pen my thoughts on it. Aside from gaming, I love music (Smashing Pumpkins), coffee (Red-Eye), and sushi (Yellowtail). All offerings of my aforementioned favorites will be accepted with open arms and, if you're lucky, i'll let you touch my beard. Just don't pull on it. That hurts.

  2. Good for them. Between this, Elder Scrolls, Doom and Fallout, Bethesda certainly does seem to have a pretty good eye. As long as they keep delivering the SP goods, I&#039ll be happy.
