In a recent interview with Destructoid, Bethesda’s PR Chief Pete Hines stated that Dishonored, the stealth-action title released last month, is performing above the company’s expectations. Though exact figures were not revealed he did give some insight into the game’s sales and the future of the franchise:
“I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations, which is especially cool considering it’s a new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter. We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas.
“So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise.”
That news will come as music to the ears of the many gamers who enjoyed the unique experience of playing Dishonored. Our own Michael Urban reviewed it and gave it a 9 out of 10. If waiting for a second installment in the franchise is too much for you, tide yourself over with the Dunwall City Trials, releasing on Dec. 11th, and more story-driven content that will be released next year.
