Bethesda’s studios are most definitely up to something, and they aim to blow you away with an upcoming glimpse at whatever it is.
Speaking to Official Xbox Magazine UK, Bethesda’s vice-president Pete Hines stated that the publisher is planning a soon-to-be announcement for some supposedly eye-catching title, or multiple titles, and that in general, they’ll be a lot more active this year than they were in 2012:
“I think you’ll hear us making considerably more noise this year than we did last year, as a publisher,” he said. “Obviously the Elder Scrolls Online is out and we’ve got the Dishonored DLC, but we will be announcing new stuff and making some noise, and I think when we get the chance to show you guys what we’re up to, that you’ll sit up and take notice.
He didn’t give any hints as to what these projects may be, but he did say that gamers can expect to eventually see reveals of ambitious projects that are helmed by talented teams:
“I think we’re continuing to do the stuff that we get excited about, and people will get really excited about when they hear what we’re up to, which is continuing to push the boundaries, reinvent – find really smart, passionate teams who know what they’re doing and have an idea that they really want to do and do well.”
Finally, he mentioned that the date for these announcements are ‘to be determined’. However, we’re willing to bet the upcoming E3 expo is the likely hotspot where you’ll see the reveal(s):
“So who that is, and what they’re doing is to TBD but, when I’m next in London to do this, hopefully we’ll be able to talk more and gauge your reaction.”
It’s left to speculation to determine what games he could have been referring to. Recent signs point to a new Fallout game, as Bethesda filed a “Fallout TV” trademark not too long ago and Fallout 3 voice actor Erik Todd Dellums was making rumblings about his character “ThreeDog” reappearing soon.
That being said, there’s also the chance that the announcement(s) could pertain to the developmentally challenged Doom 4, the vapor-warish Prey 2, a sequel to Dishonored, a new entry in the Elder Scrolls franchise, or perhaps something new entirely. Or, dare we say, all of the above? (DUN DUN DUN!)
It’s also recently been discovered that Bethesda were hiring for an unannounced next-gen game. With the PS4 already announced and the next Xbox reveal imminent, it’s more than likely that the announced game(s) will be for next-generation platforms, especially if the goal is to wow players, as Hines implied.
