At this point, one can assume that Ubisoft is simply holding Beyond Good & Evil 2 hostage so that it’s fans can buy some of Ubisoft’s other titles. They’ve repeatedly stated that they’ll ‘maybe’ work on it if the likes of Beyond Good and Evil HD, Rayman Origins, etc turn a profit. in fact, this probably led to some wondering if the game is even being worked on at all. Turns out it is, according to producer Michael Ancel.

Recently, Ancel got a chance to speak on the Toulouse Game Show and spoke about Rayman Origins, DRM, and finally, a brief bit about Beyond Good & Evil 2. “We are in an active creation stage and at this moment we are only focusing on the game and making it the best game that we can,” Ancel said. “That decision would just distracts us from that objective. I can say that it’s a very ambitious game and we need some tech to achieve that ambition.” He also detailed the unique camera system that aims to represent a cameraman filming and following Jade, the protagonist. “We use a very dynamic camera that shakes a lot during the action to add life to the camera giving the impression of an action news cover team following Jade. Maybe that could be similar to Mirror’s Edge but the game itself is very different.”

In other words, the game is not dead. Does this mean we’ll see more info about it soon? Stay tuned here at OnlySP for further details.
