Borderlands 3 Will Not Be Preloadable on PC

Borderlands 3 will not have the necessary support to allow PC players to dive straight into Pandora; instead, they will have to wait for the game to download once it unlocks.

Digital storefronts often provide a ‘preload’ period ahead of a game’s release, meaning that as soon as a game is available players can dive straight in. Because Borderlands 3 does not benefit from preloading support, PC players will have to wait for the game to fully download.

This information came via Twitter when Tim Sweeney, Epic’s founder, responded to a fan asking about preloading for the upcoming game. Sweeney wrote, “I’m sorry, we won’t have support for preloading in the Borderlands release timeframe.”

Some fans may be disheartened by the lack of preloading, even though the feature is supposedly available for titles on the Epic Games Store. Sweeney skirted the issue by writing that while the functionality is implemented, “we aren’t certain it’s up to the demands of a blockbuster like Borderlands.”

Borderlands 3 is set to release on September 13, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
