Something big may be coming…

Are you a Castlevania fan that likes the look of the upcoming 3DS title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate but doesn’t have the handheld system necessary to play it? Fear not, because Dave Cox, the head of developer MercurySteam, says an HD console port is most likely a matter of when, not if.

Speaking to CVG recently, he stated the following:

“We created everything in high definition – all the textures, all the levels, high-poly models, everything – and we kind of shrunk it all down into the 3DS… Then we lost bones from characters, you know, we dropped the resolution of the textures and everything to make it fit. At MercurySteam we have an HD version of the game sitting there in a computer somewhere.”

He closed off by saying that the team is absolutely considering making such a port. Given the amount of avid Castlevania fans out there who don’t have a 3DS and the potential soon-to-be success of the remastered Resident Evil: Revelations port, it certainly seems like a wise decision. Since Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, of which Mirror of Fate is a prequel to, is also coming to consoles in the near future, it’s not unreasonable to think that an HD Mirror of Fate port will be available closer to that game’s release.
