If you’ve been wondering what Microsoft’s plans are with some of Rare’s classic IPs, such as Banjo-Kazooie and Perfect Dark, Microsoft Studios Creative Director, Ken Lobb, has a very simple message: patience. In the latest Inner Circle podcast (via GameSpot), Lobb talked about some of the fan favorite IPs.

Will there ever be another Banjo, Viva, Blast Corps, Battletoads? Yeah, someday. And I think the reason you see things like [the Battletoads trademark] revived, is because we know there’s value.

So we renewed the trademark. Does that mean it’s coming this year? No. Does that mean it’ll never come? Absolutely not. We have a lot of passion internally for each of the games. And we have surprises in store in the near and long future.

Lobb also confirmed that a new Perfect Dark was not currently under development by any studio, but teased a release of a new Perfect Dark in 2020, the year Perfect Dark Zero took place, saying, “Maybe we’ll see another Joanna Dark game with Joanna by 2020. That would be an interesting year to bring her back.”

So while some franchises are going to be resurfacing later rather than sooner, Lobb is still excited for what Rare has in store for 2015. “It’s a nice, big year for Rare and I’m excited as well,” he said.
