Consortium: The Tower is an ambitious project. Touted as “the ultimate single player first-person immersive sim,” it promises to let you explore the game’s environment – the titular Tower – any way you choose, whether you wish to sneak, speak, or fight. You can read more about it in any of the eight articles we’ve written about it over the past few months here.

Unfortunately, according to the game’s Kickstarter page, it looks unlikely that Consortium: The Tower will be fully funded unless some philanthropist with fairly deep pockets shores up a pretty sizable donation. At the time of writing, the game is almost $200,000 away from its $309,510 goal. And with only 45 hours to go, success seems unlikely.

But wait, Consortium fans, there may be light at the end of this tunnel.

According to an update posted Wednesday this week, the team has a “radical plan brewing.” Check it out:

Other than comments on the main thread, I know we have been mysteriously silent.  This IS NOT because we’ve given up hope and are resigned to the fairly obvious state that this particular campaign is headed for….

We have been working furiously on a rather radical plan.   The key to this plan, though, is that you backers hold onto your pledges.  The only way you will be charged any money here is if the campaign suddenly has a couple hundred thousand CDN dollars pumped into it, which, while technically not impossible, is rather unlikely.

So, all we can say is TRUST US – resist the urge to cancel your pledge, we have found a way to continue full steam ahead and you will learn of this plan approximately 12 hours before the end of this campaign (or earlier)….

Believers that hold onto their pledges will have the most to gain from this new strategy.  Keep the faith everyone!

Seems like a lot to be taken on faith, but backers of the project have followed it thus far. So keep those pledges in place, and keep an eye on Consortium: The Tower‘s Kickstarter page – and of course on Only Single Player’s Facebook and Twitter feeds – for the grand reveal of this radical plan. Here’s hoping that this ambitious project finds some way to get itself off the ground.
