Control PC System Requirements Lowered, Now Much Less Demanding

0

Remedy Entertainment has lowered the official system requirements for Control, initially published on the game’s Epic Games Store page with unusually high minimum and recommended specifications.

Originally, players would have needed a GTX 1060 and i5-7500 for the baseline minimum, or a GTX 1080Ti and i5-8600k to play the game as recommended. These requirements have now been made considerably less demanding, making costly last-minute upgrades unnecessary.

Minimum:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 / AMD FX 4350
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 / AMD Radeon R9 280X
  • RAM: 8GB
  • OS: Windows 7, 64bit
  • DirectX: DX11

Requirements:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-7600K / AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660/1060 / AMD Radeon RX 580
  • Ray-tracing GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060
  • RAM: 16GB
  • OS: Windows 10, 64-bit
  • DirectX: DX12

The reason for these changes is unknown, though the initial requirements were likely so high out of caution prior to the Control’s final optimisation. Either way, the update should come as a relief to fans hoping to play the game at a reasonable framerate.

Control will be released on August 27, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
