THQ Nordic has revealed that Dead Island 2 has been handed off to a new developer.
The studio now tasked to work on the game is Dambuster Studios, best known for Homefront: The Revolution. In a financial report, THQ Nordic noted, “We have entrusted Dambuster studios with the Dead Island franchise, bringing the development of this key franchise to one of our internal studios.” The report continues, “they are now leading the development of Dead Island 2.”
Dead Island 2 was originally announced back in 2014, with Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager leading the helm. Then, the development responsibilities shifted over to Sumo Digital, who also recently worked on Crackdown 3. Now the game is being worked on by Dambuster Studios, an internal studio over at Deep Silver, the game’s publisher.
Deep Silver kept insisting that Dead Island 2 was still in development for many years. Additionally, hints appeared several months ago that the game once again switched developers, such as job postings at Dambuster.
