December 2018’s Xbox Games With Gold Revealed

Revealed via Xbox News Wire, December’s Games with Gold include two thoughtful and methodical Xbox One games and a pair of action-heavy Xbox 360 titles.

Q.U.B.E. 2 is available on Xbox One from December 1 to 31. This sequel to the hit first-person puzzler, Q.U.B.E. sees players take control of an archaeologist named Amelia Cross, who wakes up in the ruins of a strange, alien world. To get home, she must explore the landscape, solve puzzles, and work with the distant help of another survivor, Commander Emma Sutcliffe.

Never Alone is available on Xbox One from December 16 to January 15. Developed in collaboration with the Iñupiat, an Alaska Native people, Never Alone tells the story of a young girl and an arctic fox on their journey to find the source of a neverending blizzard that threatens their survival. For players looking for a thoughtful, minimalist change of pace, Never Alone is steeped in traditional Iñupiat lore.

Dragon Age II is available on Xbox 360 (and Xbox One via backward compatibility) from December 1 to 15. The second entry in BioWare’s acclaimed RPG series, Dragon Age II represents a somewhat controversial switch toward faster-paced action and combat for the series. That said, the game is still an epic adventure with a rich, detailed story worth experiencing, particularly for fans of the franchise.

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction is available on Xbox 360 (and Xbox One via backward compatibility) from December 16 to 31. Players who have found themselves casting a wandering eye on the over-the-top explosive action of Just Cause 4 but find themselves a bit skint could do a lot worse than this original Xbox classic. Developed by the now defunct Pandemic Studios, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction features the same high-octane, anything goes thrills of Avalanche Studios’ modern masterpiece of mayhem.
