Draugen – New First Person Survival Horror Game Set in Norway, Coming to PC and Next-Gen Consoles in 2015

1

Draugen is first-person survival horror game that takes place on Norway’s west coast amongst the deep fjords and towering mountains that make up the awe-inspiring landscape.

Inspired by the legends and tales of Scandinavian literature and Norse mythology, Draugen is set in the early 1920s and delves into the mysteries behind a remote fishing village where everyone has seemingly vanished. As the player traverses the village and gathers various clues and memories, they’ll learn more about the pasts of the villagers and their secrets, proving that this quaint fishing village may not be as innocent as it appears.

There is certainly more than meets the eye in this village, from a woman dressed in black appearing in the distance to a little girls broken lullabies ringing into the night. What connections do they have with this village and are they involved in everyone’s disappearance? And when night falls and the darkness takes over, what could be hiding out in the shadows of your last flickering light? With more questions than answers, you’ll need to discover all the clues left behind in order to uncover what happened in this secluded fishing village, and survive it.

“Draugen (Norwegian; meaning “the Draug”) is an undead creature from Norse mythology. The original Norse meaning of the word is ghost, but unlike traditional ghosts the Draug has a corporeal body and physical abilities. Draug reside in their watery graves, guarding the treasures and secrets that were buried with them. And they will protect those secrets at any cost”

Draugen is currently being developed by Red Thread Games for PC/Mac/Linux as well as next-gen consoles and is expected to come out some time in 2015.

  1. There aren’t many game settings located in northern europe, so this should be pretty refreshing!
