Red Thread Games Announces “Polar Punk RPG” Codenamed Svalbard

Published

 on

Developer Red Thread Games is currently working on finishing up Dreamfall Chapters Book Five, Draugen, and now has a third project in the works in the form of a “Polar Punk RPG”. The game is codenamed ‘Svalbard’ and is currently only in the prototyping phase. However, Red Thread has received a development grant from the Norwegian Film Institute to develop the game which will be released after the studio finishes up work on their narrative focused survival horror game, Draugen.

Here’s the description of Svalbard from the NFI website:

CODE NAME OF SVALBARD is a role for one to several players, set to Spitsbergen in a post-apocalyptic future.

At the end of this century leads climate change and global warfare to a destructive nuclear winter. Generations later trying what’s left of humanity to rise again to rebuild civilization. And the key to the future of Earth lies beneath the ice – Svalbard.

Red Thread will be announcing new information regarding Dreamfall Chapters Book Five soon as well as when the game will be making its way to consoles. The studio is currently working on finishing up development for Draugen which is scheduled to arrive this year. Draugen is being developed on the Unreal Engine 4 and will be released on the PC and current-gen consoles.

Doom Eternal

Bethesda has been pretty quiet about DOOM Eternal the past few months, but the company has reminded onlookers of the project’s stellar design via a piece of concept art.

Entitled ‘Hell Gate’, the concept art details Hell’s equivalent of royalist architecture, complete with DOOM (2016)’s penchant for contrasting colours and strong, angular geometry. The centrepiece of the art is the beloved Doomguy, whose heavy frame looks pretty small compared to the scale.

The art was shared directly on the game’s Twitter page, embedded below:

DOOM Eternal has no release date as of yet, but expect id Software to share more about the game at Bethesda’s E3 conference.
