Epic Games Awards $1 Million to Promising Unreal Engine Projects

Epic Games

Epic Games has announced the 37 projects that will benefit from sharing USD$1 million as a result of its latest round of Unreal Dev Grants.

The recipients range from games that have previously attracted considerable press coverage to short films, Unreal Engine 4 plug-ins. These projects will each receive between $5,000 and $50,000 in funding to allow for continued development.

Chief among the gaming highlights are Atomic Heart, the alternate universe Soviet Russia-set shooter from Mundfish; Ghost, an isometric stealth adventure; Hellbound, an old-school shooter heavily inspired by DOOM and its ilk; and Raji: An Ancient Epic, an action adventure game set in a mythical take on Ancient India.

Other notable projects include software that enables the engine to handle mixed-reality production, a program designed to aid in the education of hearing-impaired children, and a plug-in that allows the automatic population of settings with “hundreds of 3D characters.”

Previous recipients of grants include the well-received VR adventure game Moss and Planet Alpha. Meanwhile, a full list of the projects most recently selected is available here.
