Turtle Rock Studios have shown off the solo experience in their upcoming monster shooter Evolve, via a video uploaded to their official YouTube channel.

The video features gameplay from the perspective of both monster and hunter, as Scott James from the development team squares off against the AI in a match of “Defend”, a game mode that tasks a team of hunters with defending generators while the monster attacks.

“Defend” is part of the “Evacuation” campaign, all of which is playable offline.

Unlocks and achievements gathered in single player carry over to the multiplayer component, meaning that players can hone their skills before battling human opponents. There’s a lot of emphasis in the video on this point, raising questions about whether Evolve will feature a fully fledged campaign or simply a de facto practise mode when it launches on February 10th.
