Giants Will Fall on Extinction’s Release in April

Extinction, the ogre-killing action extravaganza from Killer Instinct developer Iron Galaxy, has set a release date of April 10.

Alongside revealing the launch, publisher Modus Games has also revealed a Season Pass, called ‘Days of Dolorum’, although the features of the DLC packs have not yet been unveiled. The Season Pass will be included in the Deluxe Edition of the game, which, as usual, for retail for a slightly higher price than the standard version.

Furthermore, a series of pre-order bonuses have been revealed. Pre-orders made on the PlayStation Store, and Microsoft Store will include trials at an elevated difficulty. Best Buy is offering a trial that provides exclusive rewards for completing unique objectives, and GameStop pre-orders will grant players the time-constrained ‘Last Legs’ and ‘Heads, You Win’ trials.

Extinction puts players in the boots of Avil, the last of an ancient order trained in the skills to defeat the Ravenii, a race of giant ogres intent on exterminating humanity. The developers have previously released a video outlining some of the skills that players will make use of throughout their adventure, including slowing time or giving Avil the ability to jump higher.

The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. With this announcement, April is beginning to look a little packed, as Extinction joins Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire (April 3), and God of War and Nintendo Labo (April 20).

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Will Show Unexplored Stories of Secondary Characters

The luminary creator of the Dragon Ball manga, Akira Toriyama, shared new information about the upcoming action RPG, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Via the Bandai Namco Twitter account, Toriyama revealed that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will depict the backstories of several secondary protagonists. This means that the game will diverge from the story of the manga and give greater insight into Dragon Ball‘s many supporting characters. While a plethora of games depict the events of the Dragon Ball franchise, only a few of them meaningfully expand upon the story’s events, characters, and world.

Toriyama describes Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot as a “fresh new take on the franchise.” Even though Toriyama rarely contributes to Dragon Ball games, he did create much of the lore in the now-defunct MMO Dragon Ball Online, which heavily influenced the story of the Dragon Ball Xenoverse games. While not much information is available about Kakarot and Toriyama’s involvement at this time, the title does have an early 2020 release date and a fishing mechanic.
