Following its surprise unveiling during The Game Awards last year and Early Access release a week later, THQ Nordic’s Fade to Silence has been updated with a new region and a host of additional features.
The headline piece of content from the update is The Pit, a new location designed around a refinery and “dominated by deep canyons.” As expected, the area includes new resource caches. Additionally, The Pit brings with it a new environmental threat in the form of a snow tornado.
Two additional followers have also been included. Gani is a Huntress who must be found and challenged before she join the player’s refuge, while Ezra brings an encyclopaedic knowledge of botany and will only approach the camp if certain conditions are met. The update also brings with it new refuge upkeep mechanics that require players to maintain a more careful balance of resources.
Furthermore, a host of minor bugs have been fixed as part of the latest release.
The game pits the user as a survivor in an icy post-apocalypse, having to deal simultaneously with the weather and monsters that roam throughout the environment. Fade to Silence is targeting a full release in August 2018, though its Early Access version currently enjoys a “Mostly Positive” ranking on Steam.
