Far Cry 3‘s lead writer, Jeffrey Yolalem, spoke with Joystiq.com regarding a recent rumor of a continuation to his hugely successful story.
Yolalem told Joystiq, “Yes, I’m working on something now that will be surprising, I think, when it’s announced. But it definitely is a ‘strike while the iron’s hot’ thing, and we’ll see.” It’s unclear whether Yolalem is speaking on DLC or possibily a sequel, but with 4.5 million units shipped worldwide of Far Cry 3, the install base is certainly intact.
To further the story, Joystiq acquired a tip from a “typically reliable” Twitter account, @lifelower. The tweet states that staff members from Far Cry 3 are now working on an unannounced project. Then, through a Brazilian classifications rating site, the title of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was revealed. All of this is purely speculation at this point, but it’s intriguing to say the least.
During an earnings call in February, Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot told investors that Far Cry 3 performed “way better than expected” and that “fans will certainly not have to wait four more years for the next Far Cry.” All of this fits together well with the thought that Ubisoft is hoping to get more Far Cry into our lives ASAP.
