Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will offer similar enhancements to many of Square Enix’s remasters in the past.
The Steam re-release of Final Fantasy VII allows players to max out their gil and character statistics, and Steam’s Final Fantasy VIII also allows players to fill their inventory with higher-tier magic through Magic Booster.
As stated by producer Yoshinori Kitase in a recent Weekly Famitsu interview uploaded to a fan blog (as translated by DualShockers), Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will offer similar features. The following will be available in every release of the game:
- Battle enhancements (max HP and full ATB gauge)
- No random encounters
- Triple speed
The PC version, which will be released via Steam, will come with additional and exclusive progression options. These will include the following:
- Acquire all items, abilities, special moves, and Triple Triad cards
- Maxed-out Guardian Force level, gil, and magic
- More system settings customizations
Details on why the Steam version will include these extra features have yet to surface.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will come to Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One later this year. The game will feature updated textures, character models, and other graphical improvements, but Square Enix intends to keep the original gameplay intact.
