The former Creative Director of the Uncharted series has found a new home, and one that we are particularly excited about at that.

Amy Hennig, the former Creative Director of the Uncharted series has found a new home at Visceral Games where she will be the creative director of the upcoming Star Wars game that’s currently in development. In a statement provided by EA’s Steve Papoutsis, he had the following to say about Hennig joining the Visceral team.

Amy has long been recognized as one of our industry’s top visionaries, and is coming off an amazing run as the Writer and Creative Director of the Uncharted franchise. But her contributions go beyond the games she helped create at Naughty Dog and at Crystal Dynamics, where we worked together many years ago. As both a colleague and friend, I’ve always admired her approach to creative development – focusing on nailing down the soul of a game first, and then making sure the writing, the gameplay, the design and the art comes together to form a unified, interactive experience for the player.  This fits in perfectly with what we’re trying to do here at Visceral and Amy’s going to help us continue in our pursuit to make the most thrilling, immersive games in the world.

Over the last few weeks, Amy and I have spent a lot of time talking about what her first project would be. There are a lot of different directions we could have gone, but I could sense that what really excited her about this opportunity (because let’s face it, we weren’t the only ones knocking at her door) was Star Wars.  Amy’s a huge fan. We happen to be making a Star Wars game. Just thinking about the possibilities made both of us even more excited about having her join the team.

Congrats to Amy Hennig for finding a new home, and we cannot wait to see what she comes up with for Visceral’s Star Wars project. Considering her pedigree on the Uncharted series, maybe we could see something akin to 1313 come out of Visceral. We’ll just have to wait and see.

  1. An interesting development… I admit to a mite of disappointment that she is working on Star Wars, rather than a new IP, but at least now we can rest safe in the knowledge that at least one of EA’s Star Wars projects has strong potential of being worthwhile to we SP’ers.

I mean, it’s not like Battlefront is tailored towards us…

  2. I just hope she sticks around long enough to add to a new Dead Space or Dante’s Inferno. Add her writing/directing skills to Visceral’s top-notch art design/use-of-atmosphere and we could get something really special.

  3. I thought the new SW was going to be a multiplayer only game. So the addition of her means it will have a story? Hope so…

    1. You’re thinking of the new Star Wars: Battlefront that’s in development at DICE. This is another project that hasn’t yet been unveiled.
