Well, sort of.

PopCap and Plants Vs Zombies have paired up with the American Dental Association to give free copies of the zombie killing game, instead of mouth rotting sweets, this Halloween.

The aim is to prevent “Zombie Mouth” – dental decay – by providing an alternative whose excessive consumption doesn’t rot the teeth. You can download unlimited coupons from the Stop Zombie Mouth website, and some US dentists are giving away “limited-edition, collectible Plants vs. Zombies trading cards”, as well as keys for the game.

It is an interesting public health initiative by an industry body and large corporation, and it will be fascinating to see the results of this initiative. For example, it may answer that age-old question: what do kids prefer – candy, or video games?
