Grand Theft Auto III

The Rockstar Games classic Grand Theft Auto III has been reclassified by the Australian Classification Board (ACB).

As classification number 286079, Grand Theft Auto III has been given an R18+ rating due to “sexual activity related to incentives and rewards.”

Strangely, unlike other listings for games in the Grand Theft Auto series at the ACB, the author of this classification is DMA Design. DMA Design was renamed to Rockstar North in 2001, and the majority of other GTA-related listings in this database are all authored by Rockstar North.

Also worth noting that this classification is listed for a “modified” version of the game, whereas others, such as Grand Theft Auto V, are for the original titles

Although Rockstar has made no official announcements related to Grand Theft Auto III, an out-of-the-blue rating update for a modified, multi-platform version of a title released in 2001 could offer a reason for fans to be curious and hopeful.
