Grand Theft Auto V for Next-Gen Receives a First Person Mode

Published

 on

If you thought Grand Theft Auto V for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One was just a graphical rehash of what was already released, think again.

As revealed by IGN today, Rockstar has developed a full first person mode for Grand Theft Auto V and it looks absolutely stunning. Below you can watch the first trailer for the mode provided by IGN.

Rockstar had to essentially rebuild all their animations for the first person mode as animation director Rob Nelson explains, “You have to change pretty much everything. I mean, if you want to do it right. We have a very solid third-person animation system, but you don’t just put the camera down there and expect to see the guns, aim, and shoot. All those animations are new when you switch to first-person, because it all has to be animated to the camera, to make it feel like a proper first-person experience that I think people would expect. All the timings have to be re-evaluated.”

The IGN preview of the first person mode for GTA V goes into a lot more detail about how it works and all the changes Rockstar had to make to the game to implement it properly. You can read that article by following the link.
