GreedFall’s Campaign Will be Heavily Influenced by Player Choice

GreedFall’s second web series entry details the impact of choice and the importance of players crafting their own story.

Main writer and CEO of Spiders, Jehanne Rousseau, describes choices as a defining feature of RPG games with GreedFall being heavily influenced by tabletop games. The game wants players to feel that their decisions have a real impact on the narrative and how they perceive the in-game world.

Players can align with multiple factions within the game, each with their own philosophy. A level of political intrigue will unfold within GreedFall as players can uncover shady secrets to use against factions if they wish. Political alignments and other player choices will result in a vastly different experience between playthroughs.

Another emphasis on player choice is the extensive skill tree presented within the video. Stealthier gamers may opt for the assassin traits which include various poison abilities. Roles are not fixed, however, as GreedFall lets the player tailor the abilities to suit their playstyle. Stats are also effected by armour which will vary depending on which faction it is acquired from.

Rousseau admits that, for a small team, the game is an ambitious project but is nevertheless driven by pure ambition.

GreedFall will be available on September 10 2019, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
