Hawaii-Set Open World Shooter Nightmarchers Begins Crowdfunding

Nightmarchers, a new open-world shooter with RPG elements, has begun its efforts to raise $100,000 via the Fig crowdfunding platform.

Despite billing the game primarily as a third-person shooter, the developers at Wyrmbyte are working towards making it extremely diverse thanks, in part, to the inclusion of magical and mythological elements. As players progress through the game, they will gain access to a broad range of skills. While most are relatively passive, such as transforming into a bird or shark for additional traversal options, some will deal damage.

Interestingly, not every skill can be unlocked in a single playthrough, as decisions will influence those that players are able to access. Several of the more powerful skills will be derived from the gods of Hawaii, which also plays into the project’s narrative.

Nightmarchers follows a man named Kai in a post-apocalyptic version of Oahu, where an ancient god has returned to wreak havoc upon the human population. The humans are divided into several factions, each specialising in a different battle strategy, and players will have to choose which factions are most suitable for their approach.

Alongside the central story, Nightmarchers will include a custom content engine that will create dynamic events to populate the world.

The game has already raised more than 20% of its funding goal during the Backstage period of the campaign, with a month of the official campaign left to go.

More details on the game will be available on OnlySP via an interview with the developers later this week.
