Look in the sky! Is it a plane? Is it a guy with a glider-pack? Is it dubstep mixed with rockin’ guitar riffs? Well, technically it’s all three. During the HALO jump sequence in the final level of Call of Duty: Black Ops II‘s campaign is where you’ll find today’s Hey! Listen track, as well as in the game’s multiplayer lobby.

Titled “Adrenaline” and composed by Jack Wall, the track is both intensely ‘to the point’ and strangely soothing. It’s a gentle synthetic piece that’s never overbearing or loud, and yet it’s easy to find an underlying sense of determination and ambition within it. There’s an especially effective part at around 2:30 that serves as a terrific climax for the song, and it’s used excellently in the game when it coincides with your landing into the compound. The piece honestly reminds of something from Unreal Tournament thanks to its futuristic vibe and subtle role in the background, where it drives the action along nicely without ever devolving into bombastic and lazy attempts at trying to raising the stakes and widen the scope.

Jack Wall is an American composer who has worked on the soundtracks for game series’ like Mass Effect, Call of Duty, Splinter Cell, Myst, and many others. You can check out his site here.

  1. LAME! haha jk. That guy should burn in fire.

    1. GASP! How can you say that!

He should burn in an eternal fire, one that causes such immense pain that it rivals that of experiencing the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen film while simultaneously having salt and lemon juice poured on flesh wounds and having the CN Tower shoved up a certain orifice.

Nobody else has any idea what we’re talking about, do they?
