After teasing new content for the past few days, IO Interactive has announced that last year’s episodic HITMAN saga is being bundled together with new content for a Game of the Year edition.
As with most such re-releases, this GotY edition will be the definitive version of the game, bundling together all of the previous content, alongside the reactivation of the time-limited Elusive Target missions that played out since the game’s launch.
The must-have feature for HITMAN’s latest release, however, is the exclusive ‘Patient Zero’ campaign, a four-mission narrative that sees Agent 47 crossing the globe to prevent a viral outbreak. Unfortunately, these new missions will not take place in new locations, but the existing settings of Bangkok, Sapienza, Colorado, and Hokkaido have been redesigned to offer new “new gameplay opportunities, disguises, characters, challenges, gameplay mechanics, AI behaviour and HUD elements.”
The pack will also include three new costumes (Clown, Raven, and Cowboy Suits), each with a unique signature weapons, and new Escalation Contracts to take advantage of the new looks.
Although the HITMAN GotY Edition will be a full-priced release, those who own the first season will be able to upgrade to receive the new content for USD$20, with pricing for other regions yet to be announced. The new content will be available from November 7, 2017. At the same time, IO Interactive will release a free update for the base game, including a redesigned interface, an update to Contracts Mode, lighting improvements, and upgrades for the Xbox One X version of the game.
HITMAN GotY Edition will be the first release for IO Interactive since the studio gained independence from former owner Square Enix earlier this year, at which time it gained the rights to the Hitman series.
