The Hollow Knight physical release plans have been put on hold indefinitely.
Skybound Games, the team that was originally distributing the physical run, announced that it is no longer working with developer Team Cherry.
The only information Skybound revealed is shown in the tweet below.
We are saddened to share that we’ll no longer be working with @TeamCherryGames to bring #HollowKnight to new platforms. We absolutely love the game and wish Team Cherry continued success. We look forward to seeing what’s next for them. pic.twitter.com/Cyp9tniGKu

Team Cherry has since posted an update on its blog detailing plans going forward.
“As a team of three people still in intensive production of Hollow Knight, taking the game into the retail space (even with the extensive assistance of Skybound) proved more work than we could reasonably manage. In the future, we will investigate other ways to deliver physical versions of Hollow Knight, though likely that will be in smaller quantities.”
Physical copies were planned to hit stores sometime in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
