Despite news of new DLC debuting this week, Team Cherry has revealed that Hollow Knight: Silksong is a full-blown sequel.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is Team Cherry’s second game and features Hornet, an agile needle wielder originally from the first Hollow Knight. The developer says this new game has been in development for over a year now, so check out the work it has done in the new trailer below.

Silksong was planned as DLC but, as described on the Team Cherry blog, quickly evolved into something more substantial. These new ambitions have produced an entirely new kingdom, ‘acrobatic action,’ 150 new enemies, new bosses, and secrets to explore.

“As Hornet, princess-protector of Hallownest, adventure through a whole new kingdom haunted by silk and song. Captured and brought to an unfamiliar land, Hornet must battle foes and solve mysteries as she ascends on a deadly pilgrimage to the kingdom’s peak.”

As a bonus, those who backed the game on Kickstarter will get Silksong free of charge.

Though there is no set release date, Silksong will premiere on Linux, Mac, PC, and Switch. Team Cherry says a wider console release is not out of the question yet.
