Iratus: Lord of the Dead, a challenging turn-based RPG akin to Darkest Dungeon, is now on Kickstarter, seeking USD$20,000 in funding.
The core of the game has already been funded by the developer, Unfrozen Studios, with the crowdfunding resources being put towards extra content and polish.
Aesthetically, Iratus borrows heavily from titles such as Dungeon Keeper and Planescape: Torment, with its mechanics entrenched in classical turn-based and roguelike toolkits. By summoning a series of undead minions, players battle through a labyrinthine prison seeking to escape, with the combat system offering a new take on Darkest Dungeon‘s sensibilities.
Players will be expected to expose the enemy’s weaknesses, whilst using their body parts to raise new undead allies. Alchemy is also an essential aspect of the game, with potions and poisons altering gameplay significantly. As with the majority of roguelikes, the punishments for death are intense, asthe project is set to include a permadeath mechanic.
Iratus: Lord of the Dead can be backed on Kickstarter until June 21, and the title is coming to Steam Early Access sometime in August. The trailer is embedded below, but, before viewing it, be sure to visit Iratus‘s Kickstarter page and bookmark OnlySP on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube:
