In response to the sad news today that Disney has closed down LucasArts, Raven Software have released the source code for their two much beloved Star Wars games Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy.

Raven announced the release through a statement to Kotaku Australia, attributing their decision to the shuttering of LucasArts and the persistence of their loyal fanbase. In their statement, Raven also paid tribute to LucasArts:

“Raven is sad to hear about the closing of LucasArts today, we respected them and enjoyed working with them over the years. We wish the best for all the talented people who were let go and hope they find good work in studios in the industry… We loved and appreciated the experience of getting to make Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy for LucasArts.”

The code, which, according to the Kotaku story, will “most likely take some work to get it running with retail assets” is available from Sourceforge.
