Publisher The Arcade Crew recently uploaded a YouTube video showing nearly four minutes of uninterrupted gameplay for its upcoming Metroidvania, KUNAI.
KUNAI was originally announced in March of this year, given a charming reveal trailer that showed off its art style, gameplay, and music. With development by TurtleBlaze progressing, today, The Arcade Crew released a new trailer that shows gameplay reminiscent of titles like The Messenger and Dustforce.
The trailer features dialogue with what appears to be one of the game’s antagonists and highlights proper use of the grapplehook.
The Arcade Crew calls KUNAI a “Metroidvania adventure best explored through ninja-tier parkour and best survived with razor-sharp combat reflexes.” The trailer’s YouTube description also reveals the following about the game’s main character:
In KUNAI, players dish out swift death as Tabby, an emotive, tablet-powered hero infused with an ancient warrior’s soul. Tabby is resuscitated and rebooted in the midst of a futuristic war between AI robots gone wrong. Humanity is on the brink of extinction thanks to a famed inventor’s botched AI creation, and Tabby sets out to solve things as any handheld consumer electronic warrior hybrid would: with heaps of violence.
KUNAI is set to release for Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam) in early 2020.
