Capcom has revealed Lost Planet 3 recently, though by this point we all know that an announcement and a CG trailer are not enough. We need some juicy gameplay, yes. Additionally, we need some cool-looking German guys narrating said gameplay. How fortunate, then, that we have received just that.
In the video below, we see several sequences of what looks to be pre-alpha gameplay from the title. The most notable of these is a boss battle between Jim’s mech and a huge Akrid. The battle is fought in first-person, in which you do melee combat against the beast, making it look like an interesting sci-fi adaptation of rock-em sock-em robots. Eventually, contextual “drill points” appear, which allow the player to drill that particular area of the beast.
The on-foot gameplay sections, meanwhile, look like a lawsuit-worthy rip off of Dead Space, complete with flickering lights and grotesque monsters. Quicktime events are apparently in, which doesn’t exactly have me scurrying over to the pre-order button. Still, these sections look like a promising start.
Lost Planet 3 is set to crack out of developmental ice in 2013, and will warm up near the campfires of PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
