Mass Effect 4 will use Frostbite 2

0

If nothing else, the upcoming Mass Effect 4 will look pretty, as it’ll be making use of EA’s Frostbite 2 engine.

Yanick Roy, studio director at Bioware Montreal, stated in a recent blog post that the upcoming Mass Effect title will not only use the engine, but will also incorporate mechanics being developed for Dragon Age III, of which are unknown at the moment.

There is really not much I can tell you about the game right now, except that it will be built with the amazing technology of Frostbite as its foundation, enhanced by many of the systems that the Dragon Age III team has already spent a lot of time building.

Bioware Montreal also has a job listings page, where the description for the Engine Programmer role has mysteriously “either been deleted or is no longer available.”

How do you feel about this, single-players? Lately, Frostbite 2 has been used more for shooters than anything else, so could this mean that the series is straying further from its RPG roots? Stay tuned for more news on Mass Effect 4.
